About Chiropractic

What is Chiropractic Care?
Regular chiropractic visits can help detect, correct, and maintain optimal spinal and nervous system function. It is a prescription drug-free, non-invasive practice, encompassing a philosophy of natural health care based on your body's natural potential to be healthy.

What do chiropractors do?
Initially, your chiropractor will talk with you about your general health history and about any specific troubles you may be experiencing. After reviewing your history and exam, other more specific tests may be used to identify areas of spinal malfunction. Once a plan of treatment has been established to meet your specific needs, regular adjustments may be recommended along with other therapeutic treatments that will enhance your healing process. Progress is monitored with regular examinations and follow-up reports.

What is an adjustment?
Chiropractic adjustment is the art of using controlled force in a defined direction on a joint that is not moving properly. This helps to add motion to the joint, helping the bones gradually return to a more normal position and motion. There are many ways to adjust the spine. Usually the chiropractor's hands or a specially designed instrument delivers a brief, highly accurate thrust. Some adjustments are quick, while others require a slower, constant pressure.

Will my treatment hurt?
Chiropractic care is among the safest of health care procedures, and most of the time, treatment is painless. Although dependent on the patient's degree of injury and sensitivity, many patients feel an immediate sense of relief, a sense of peace and relaxation, and a boost of energy.

How many sessions will I need?
Your chiropractor will recommend a treatment plan specific to your unique needs. Some of the factors considered include the nature of your complaint or injury and the length of time you have experienced the symptoms. In general, an average course of treatment may last five or six sessions over two to three weeks, but regular care is recommended to maintain optimum health.
